Mercurius homeopathic software compared with the Similia platform

If you searched for mercurius homeopathic software, you want the desktop program from AEON GROUP (homeopathy.net) — not Mercurius the remedy, and not our Mercurius solubilis or Mercurius corrosivus materia medica posts. Mercurius the software is no longer developed or supported. The publisher still points people at a free Basic Edition via Legatum Homeopathicum. Similia is a living cloud platform with a free forever tier, seven classical repertories, AI semantic search, and the full AI toolkit on Pro. Treat Mercurius as an archival / offline option, not as a current vendor you can buy support from.

Disclosure: I'm the founder of Similia. I've tried to be even-handed below — corrections welcome by email.

TL;DR — Mercurius software vs Similia at a glance

Mercurius (AEON GROUP spol. s r.o., Slovakia) combined repertory, materia medica and a patient-management system in one Windows desktop application. Official notice on homeopathy.net and the old mercurius.sk download page: development and support have stopped; use the free version via Legatum Homeopathicum. Paid editions are no longer sold. Historical library claims (Complete Repertory editions through 2016, "100 000+ pages" of MM) are frozen at whatever that last build contained.

Similia is web-based, actively shipped, with a free forever tier and four Pro plans.

Dimension Mercurius (software) Similia
Price Free Basic Edition via Legatum Homeopathicum (released Dec 2012; last noted build 19 Nov 2013). Paid SKUs withdrawn — unpublished / see their site Free forever + Pro from $19.99/mo (14-day trial)
Repertories Desktop suite that shipped Complete Repertory editions (last news item: CR 2016 English) plus Kent with André Saine additions in the free Basic LH build. Current paid CR 2026 is not a Mercurius product 7 classical (Free) + 7 premium (Pro), incl. Complete Repertory 2026
Materia medica Vendor claimed 100 000+ pages of corrected, unified MM; exact title list is no longer sold as a catalogue 13 classic (Free) + Jan Scholten's full series on every Pro tier; 12+ modern total with add-ons
AI None. Last releases predate today's language-model tools Semantic search (Free); Notes-to-Rubric, AI analysis, live audio, photo analysis (Pro)
Case management Local patient-management system (unsupported) Complete, simple-to-use, cloud-synced across devices
Cloud / desktop Windows desktop (legacy Mac/Linux via Windows emulation, per old system requirements). No support Cloud-based; runs in any browser, any device
Best for Offline archival use of the free Basic build you already trust Anyone who needs a maintained free or Pro platform

What is Mercurius (the software)?

Mercurius was a Windows repertorisation, materia medica and patient-management program written by AEON GROUP. The product site is homeopathy.net. The company listed these as the selling points while it was alive:

  • Repertory + materia medica + patient management in one install
  • Compensated repertory model on every supported repertory
  • Strong synonym search; book-style tree repertory; multiple "desktops" for one case
  • Superrubrics, user symptoms, positive/negative remedy filters, families
  • Synthetic materia medica with remedy comparison
  • Early access to new Complete Repertory years (news archive runs through Complete Repertory 2016 English)

In December 2012 Mercurius Basic Edition was released free inside the Legatum Homeopathicum project. Legatum's page (still up) describes Basic as free for everyone, last packaged 19 November 2013 as Mercurius 5.2.0.19 with Kent plus André Saine-team additions, plus a Materia Medica Explorer 1.3.0.0. AEON — not Legatum — remains the copyright holder.

The same official pages now say the program is no longer being developed, nor supported. The mercurius.sk domain is no longer a reliable product home (it has been reused by unrelated sites). Use homeopathy.net and Legatum Homeopathicum as the historical record. There is no current list price because there is no current shop.

This is not the remedy. For Mercurius solubilis or Mercurius corrosivus as medicines, use those materia medica guides — they are a different search intent.

What is Similia?

Similia is a modern, cloud-native homeopathy platform with a free forever tier and four Pro editions. It runs in any modern browser on desktop, tablet, or phone. The free tier ships seven classical repertories (Kent, Boericke, Boenninghausen's Therapeutic Pocketbook, Hering's Guiding Symptoms, Boger's Synoptic Key, Ward's and Roberts' Sensations As If), 13 classic materia medica books, AI-powered semantic search, and basic case management capped at 3 new cases and 3 analyses per month.

Every Pro tier unlocks the full AI suite, Jan Scholten's full materia medica series, Materia Medica Search, the Periodic Table, and unlimited cases, including Complete Repertory 2026 on Pro Complete.

Pricing: Free, Pro Base $19.99/mo, Pro Murphy and Pro Complete $29.99/mo, Pro Saine $26.99/mo, 14-day trial. Overview of no-cost options: free homeopathic software.

Side-by-side comparison

Pricing

Mercurius Basic is free via Legatum. Paid Mercurius editions are not offered. Do not budget for a new licence or a support contract — there isn't one.

Similia Free never expires. Pro starts at $19.99/mo with a 14-day trial.

Repertories

Mercurius was, in its day, a Complete Repertory specialist. The last public news item is CR 2016. The free Basic LH build highlights Kent with Saine-team additions. You will not get Complete Repertory 2026, Murphy MetaRepertory, or Saine 2025 inside a maintained Mercurius SKU.

Similia's Free set is seven named classical repertories. Pro Complete is the current Complete Repertory year.

Materia medica

Mercurius advertised a very large, spell-checked MM corpus. The exact live title list is no longer a shop you can audit. Similia publishes 13 classic books on Free and Scholten's series on Pro.

AI

Mercurius last shipped in the early 2010s. There is no AI product. Similia's AI features are the opposite bet.

Case management

Mercurius included a local PMS. Files from an unsupported Windows program are a backup risk. Similia syncs encrypted cases across devices, with Free caps and unlimited Pro.

Platform

Mercurius: legacy Windows (old docs also mention Windows emulation on Mac/Linux). No vendor to call. Similia: any modern browser.

When Mercurius is the better choice

  1. You already have a working Basic or paid install and only need offline lookup of that frozen library.
  2. You specifically want the 2013 Basic + Kent/Saine-additions build that Legatum still documents.
  3. You cannot use a browser and a local Windows box is the only machine you have.

When Similia is the better choice

  1. You need software someone still ships and supports.
  2. You want Complete Repertory 2026 or other current premium repertories, not a 2016 snapshot.
  3. You want AI tools or semantic search.
  4. You want a free tier that is a real 2026 product, not an unsupported exe.
  5. You work on more than one device.

FAQ

Is this about Mercurius the remedy?

No. This page is Mercurius the Windows program. For the medicine, see Mercurius solubilis.

Can I still buy Mercurius?

No. Official pages say it is not developed or supported. The remaining path is the free Basic Edition documented by Legatum Homeopathicum.

How much did Mercurius cost?

AEON marketed "very affordable pricing" but the live shop is gone. The only price that is still official is free for Basic. This article does not invent a historic euro figure.

Does Mercurius include the Complete Repertory?

Historically yes, in paid builds, up to the 2016 English news item. That is not Complete Repertory 2026, and those SKUs are not for sale. Similia's current Complete year is on Pro Complete.

Is Mercurius safe to install in 2026?

It is an unsupported 2013-era Windows binary. Treat it as you would any unmaintained desktop program: your risk assessment, not a recommendation. Similia does not require a local exe.

Verdict

Mercurius was a capable Complete-centred desktop suite. It is now an archive: free Basic via Legatum, no support, last Complete news in 2016. Similia is the maintained alternative — free classics, Pro from $19.99/mo, current repertories, AI, cloud cases.
