• Found both ladies vomiting severely, and complaining of extreme pain and burning sensation in the stomach. Mrs. R. was also purging freely, though her daughter was not. The vomiting and purging lasted fully five hours, and during a part of the time the pulse was imperceptible in either patient. After this period the symptoms ameliorated, and they both fell asleep. For several days they were both confined to their beds, and were obliged to be extremely careful as to what they took into their stomachs. Mrs. R. has since suffered with some cerebral symptoms which betoken a tendency to apoplexy, 1.
