Richard Pitt

Richard Pitt is a British homeopath who began his practice in the United Kingdom and later worked in the United States. Over a career spanning more than thirty years, he has combined clinical practice with a sustained commitment to homeopathic education, teaching, and writing. He currently divides his time between the United Kingdom and Spain.

Pitt has held significant educational and administrative roles in the homeopathic profession. For twelve years, until 2008, he directed a homeopathy school in San Francisco, and he later served as Educational Director of the Kenya School for Integrated Medicine, located near Mombasa, Kenya, where he managed an EU-funded public health initiative in collaboration with Kenya's Ministry of Health. He was active in several homeopathic organizations, including the Council for Homeopathic Certification, the California Health Freedom Coalition, and the California Homeopathic Medical Society, and edited the journal The California Homeopath for eight years.

His writing centers on materia medica and the systematic study of remedy groups. His principal work, Comparative Materia Medica: Integrating New and Old Remedies (2015), comprises thirty-six chapters examining remedies drawn from animal, mineral, plant, and bacterial sources, organized around homeopathic miasmatic theory. The book reflects his interest in integrating newer and lesser-known remedies with established classical polychrests through a comparative, thematic approach.

Beyond his comparative work, Pitt has authored a range of titles including a homeopathic study of tobacco (Tobacco), Homeopathic Remedies from Southern African Endangered Medicinal Plants (co-authored with Barbara Braun), the Therapeutic Guide and Thematic Materia Medica of Homeopathic Medicine, Clinical Therapeutics of Homeopathic Medicine, The Natural Medicine Guide for Travel and Home (2013), and the Essential Natural Health Guide for Travel and Home.
