Daphne odora finds its simillimum in rheumatic or gouty pains following suppressed gonorrhœa; it also has a marked relationship to syphilis in its bone affections. The pains shift rapidly and continually, usually from the extremities into the body; they are screwing, stabbing or bruised in character.
Few remedies present more subjective symptoms, especially those introduced by the phrase “ sensation as if “.
Daphne is a remedy well worth studying when its characteristics are met in rheumatic or gouty conditions manifesting skin conditions, as well as the bone pains.
Compare Aurum, Mezereum, Mercurius, Pulsatilla, Staphisagria, Thuja, Bryonia, Digitalis, Rhus tox. are among the antidotes.
NECK AND BACK
Screwing pain from ear to shoulder.
Pain in nape of neck with beating; painful to touch.
Sharp pain under left scapula.
Drawing pain in spinal cord, < on stooping or bending.
SUPERIOR EXTREMITIES
Lightning-like pain in right shoulder.
Violent boring pain in bones of fingers.
Flying gouty pains in hands.
Sticking tearing pains in fingers of right hand.
INFERIOR EXTREMITIES
Sharp pain running down right hip, lasting only a short time.
Screwing pain in right hip from hip to knee.
Rheumatic stiffness in muscles of left thigh above the knee, < when walking.
Dull pain in thigh and knee.
After pain leaves part it is insensible to touch and feels very large.
Bruised pain in left toes.
BALL OF RIGHT GREAT TOE SWOLLEN AND VERY PAINFUL; THE PAIN SUDDENLY SHOOTS INTO THE BODY AND THEN CHANGES AGAIN.

Screwing pain in muscles and bones.
Bruised pain in limbs with great weakness.

PAIN FROM NAPE OF NECK TO FOREHEAD.
SENSATION AS IF OUTER PART OF BRAIN WERE INFLAMED AND BEAT AGAINST THE SKULL.
SENSATION AS IF A MEMBRANE EXTENDED OVER EYES.
SENSATION AS IF PARTS WERE SEPARATED FROM ONE ANOTHER—THE HEAD OR THE ARMS FROM THE BODY, ALTHOUGH UNDER CONTROL OF THE WILL.
DRYNESS OF TONGUE.
Tongue coated on one side only.
FETID BREATH, TONGUE, URINE, PERSPIRATION.
AFTER EACH MEAL BURNING AND SORENESS IN STOMACH WITH BELCHING OF WIND.
URINE TURBID, THICK, YELLOW, CONTAINS PUS.
