Heart and Circulation.

• Precordial anxiety.

• The beating of the heart and of the carotids is in some persons

very marked.

• Accelerated heart-action, with increased frequency of cardiac

pulsations.

• Great cardiac oppression and tumultuous heart-action.

• An aching pain and constriction around the heart.

It invariably quickens the pulse, sometimes doubling its pace. ° Angina pectoris with throbbing of the heart and carotids as high as the ears.

• Angina pectoris with great agony (Drs. Brunton, Anstie, and

Talfourd Jones). 0 Very successful in sun-stroke or heat-stroke. 0 Fainting — from any cause.

Extremities. Tired feeling of the limbs.

Generalities.

° A severe burning sensation over the loins, from whence a glow of heat spreads over the whole body, followed by perspiration.

ANTIMONIUM AESENITUM

(Arsenide of Antimony.)

Description. — Antimony unites with most metals by fusion, forming alloys, which are generally brittle. The alloy with antimony is very hard, brittle, and fusible. It is completely decomposed by ignition at a moderate heat in an atmosphere of carbonic anhydride, the arsenic volatilizing and the antimony remaining It is found native in the Chalanche Mountains, Isere, Allemont and a few other places. It then has the form of fine-grained, spherical or kidney -shaped masses with uneven fractrre.

Preparations. — Triturations.

Congestion of the head.

Pain in the forehead. Pressure in the temples. General sick feeling. Sense of weakness. Pain in the orbits. Conjunctivitis. (Edema of the face. Loss of appetite. Nausea. Diarrhoea, slight without pain. Pulse, 90. Wandering pains along the sciatic nerve.

• Cardiac dyspnoea, with cough. (Hale.)

° Excessive dyspnoea in cases of emphysema. (Dr. Payr.)

• Great weakness of the heart (chronic). (Dr. Hale.)

Volume II — Special Therapeutics

I use a great deal in cardiac debility, with concomitant dyspnoea, asthma, cough, and emaciation. It acts well in the 2* trit. given three times daily.
