Cyrus Maxwell Boger(1861–1935)
Physician and author of Boenninghausen's Characteristics and Repertory and A Synoptic Key of the Materia Medica
Cyrus Maxwell Boger was an American physician who translated and reorganised Boenninghausen's work into the Boenninghausen's Characteristics and Repertory (1905) and distilled the materia medica into A Synoptic Key, two books still used for the Boenninghausen method.
About Cyrus Maxwell Boger
Cyrus Maxwell Boger was born in Western Pennsylvania in 1861, trained first as a pharmacist, and graduated in medicine from the Hahnemann Medical College of Philadelphia in 1888. He practised in Parkersburg, West Virginia, for the rest of his life.
Boger studied Boenninghausen's German writings closely and in 1905 published Boenninghausen's Characteristics and Repertory, which reorganised and expanded the earlier work and gave the Boenninghausen method, built on complete symptoms and generalised modalities, its standard English repertory.
His Synoptic Key of the Materia Medica (1915) condensed each remedy into a synopsis of its modalities, generals and regional symptoms for rapid comparison, and his General Analysis and Card Repertory extended the same method. He taught at the American Foundation for Homoeopathy's postgraduate courses in the 1920s.
