Common names: rock oil; coal oil.
It acts prominently on the skin, producing eczema, fissures and pustules, and upon the glandular and digestive systems (D.).
Particularly indicated in diseases of the ears, mucous membranes, skin, and joints (Ml.).
Symptoms appear and disappear rapidly (Bell., Mag-P.; reverse of Plat., Stann.) (A.).
Ailments from riding in a carriage, railroad car, or in a ship (Cocc.) (A.).
Salt-rheum on hands; red, raw, burning, or moist, or covered with thick crusts (N.).
Ailments which are worse before and during a thunderstorm (Nat-C., Phos., Psor.) (A.).
Heat and burning of soles of feet and palms of hands (Lach., Med., Sep., Sulph.) (A.).
THE SKIN SYMPTOMS ARE WORSE IN WINTER, BETTER IN SUMMER (Alum.); AND IF SUPPRESSED, CAUSES DIARRHOEA (A.).
Salt-rheum on lower legs from knee to ankles; purplish oozing, or covered with scales or scabs, which are easily detached; itching and burning like fire (N.).
