Camphor, topically, causes an erysipelatous dermatitis, with bright redness, and, eventually, blisters (from concentrated solution) (F.).
Suffocative catarrh, with paralysis of the lungs (Ant-T., Lycop., Phos.) (Bt.).
Headache, with catarrhal affections (Bry., Kali-B., Puls.) (G.).
Sudden retrocession of eruptions, with cold skin and great prostration (Ant-T., Apis, Carb-V., Phos., Sulph.) (Bt.).
BAD EFFECTS OF SHOCK FROM INJURY; SURFACE OF THE BODY COLD; FACE PALE, BLUE; LIPS LIVID; PROFOUND PROSTRATION (A.).
Useful in cases of measles or scarlatina when eruption does not appear (Ant-T., Bry., Cupr., Hell., Lach., Stram.) (A.)
May be given in all sequel├ж of measles (Carb-V., Kali-C., Phos., Puls.) (A.).
AGGRAVATION: During motion; at night; from contact; in cold air; and in the dark.
AMELIORATION; From warmth; when thinking of the existing complaint; in warm air; and from drinking cold water.
RELATIONSHIP: Camphor antidotes or modifies the action of nearly every vegetable medicine, such as tobacco, opium, etc.
Similar to: Acon., Ant-T., Ars., Carb-V., Cupr., Hydr-Ac., Laur., Nux-V., Phos., Sec. and Verat.
On account of its baneful influence Camphor should not be allowed in the sick room in its crude form.
NOTE. A few large doses of Camphor, if given at the very start, will at once arrest many cases of diarrh┼Уa during cholera epidemic.
