In chronic rheumatism with the anæmia and the wandering, shifting pains going from joint to joint, especially if associated with too early but scanty menstruation, or in boys during puberty, we find the field for Manganum’s usefulness.
Compare: Ammonium mur.
Manganum is compatible with Pulsatilla, Rhus tox., Sulphur.
NECK AND BACK
Stiffness in nape of neck.
Tearing in whole Spinal column from above downward.
Pain in small of back on bending backward.
SUPERIOR EXTREMITIES
Sprained pain in shoulder joint.
Rheumatic pains extending from shoulder to fingers.
Gnawing and boring in humerus as if in marrow of bone.
Tension in elbow as if too short.
Tensive pain in joints of arms and wrists.
INFERIOR EXTREMITIES
Tensive drawing stitches in thigh.
Twitching of muscles of legs from least motion.
Jerking sticking pain above knee.
Tearing pains in knees.
Tension and stiffness in legs.
INFLAMMATORY SWELLING OF BOTH MALLEOLI WITH STITCHING PAIN EXTENDING UP FROM EXTERNAL MALLEOLUS, ALWAYS WHEN WALKING.
Rheumatism in feet, cannot bear weight on heel.
EXTREMITIES IN GENERAL
Drawing and tension in limbs as from shortening of tendons.
RHEUMATISM SHIFTING FROM JOINT TO JOINT, GENERALLY CROSSWISE, RED AND SHINING SWELLING, < TOUCH OR MOTION OR AT NIGHT.
ARTHRITIS VAGA CAUSING ONE TO GROAN AND MOAN CONSTANTLY, WITH BURNING SPOTS ABOUT JOINTS.
INFLAMMATION OF ARTICULATING EXTREMITIES OF BONES.
BORING, GNAWING SENSATION IN MARROW OF BONE.
