Common name: vegetable charcoal.
Especially adapted to adynamic diseases with great prostration (Ars.) (Bt.).
Low, grave, depraved or cachectic state (Ars., Chin., Phos., Sec.) (B.).
Inflammation of parotid gland (parotitis); with metastasis to the testes (Ars., Jab., Nat-M., Puls., Rhus-T.; with metastasis to the mammæ- Puls.) (K.).
Burning pain in exterior parts, in ulcers and in bones (Ars.).
Pressing sensation in inner parts (Bell., Coloc., Nux-V., Puls.).
In the morning, when rising from the bed, the limbs feel as though broken (Cocc., Eup-P., Plb.).
Paralytic tearing in the limbs with flatulency and difficulty of breathing (Lyc., Nux-V.).

Great debility, much worse from the smallest exertion of body or mind, worse towards noon (Ars.).
Pricking from above downwards.

AGGRAVATION: In the morning; at night; before falling asleep; from the abuse of quinine and mercury; on rising from the bed; while walking in the open air; from butter, pork or fat food; from singing or reading aloud; and in warm, damp weather.
AMELIORATION: From eructations; from being fanned; in the open air; from loosening the clothing around the waist; and lying down.
