a. Dr. GevER, aet. 93, took, Nov. loth, 30p.m.,fi dr. tincr. After sleeping 1 h,, woke up on account of great heat all over body, as alwi unusual heat in gaMric region, and amorous dreams which disturbed hi« &]cep during remainder of n. — 1 ith. Felt well till 5 p.m., from which time till he went to bed he had tiresome ru»h of blood to held, with pressure and dull pain under forehead, one ear hot, the other cold. Very irritable and dejected without cauve. Sleep next n. disturl>ed by distressing and frightful dreams (of the death of near relations, &c.).— nth. No symptomN all d,, so he to»jk me. 13 dr. Next n. wai undistiirbrd. — 13th. 6.jo a.m., 13 dr. Atter 1 K. violent perpendicular stitches in 1. halt of chest, beginning under I. clavicle and going through whole chest (o diaphragm, near the heart, most severe during expiration, increased by walking about j at same time pressure and ttiichrs towarvis r., from cnsiforni cartilage. 10 a.m., shooting pains near r. nipple, increased by walking and running at 1 p.m. All p.m. till e. very drowsy :ind tinnitus aurium. sleep next n. unrefrcAhing and disturbed by many dreams and frequent and copious miciuririon — 14th. in., considerable inflammation of eyeball, a pain in 1. eye. as if a sharp grain of sand were beneath upper eyelid. P.m., recurrence of pains in chest, tasting 3 h. 8 p.m., severe pressure in middle of ".temum, going off at n., but retumm? more severely on 15th, and lasting all m. For some d. past the toes are extremely sensitive. The symptoms go otf with dying away of one finger, ail except the pressure in 1, eye. — i6tJi. No symptoms all d. 11 p.m., iS dr., which caused] disturbed sleep from heat all over body, burning in stomach, and vivid, curiou* dreams. — 17th, m., full feeling in whole head and prewiurc in occiput. E., increase of full feeling in bead, and violent prcsxtre pain in 1, eye. All d. tormented by inexplicable anxiety. Next n. very distressing dream-, pain in occiput, and violent pains in I. eye, the inflammatiun of which attains its greatest intensity on iSih. The conjunctiva is bloodshot .ind swollen, difficulty u^ opening eye on acconni of pain and photophobia for a short time, with copious lachrymation. This inflammation continues for 8 d. After a very restless n., ow ^\\ ra. recurrence of stitches in 1. side of chest, paraJUl to axis of body. There is, besides, periodical shooting in lowest cervicail vertebrr. E., recurrence of stitches in r. side of chest. Nextn. !»leep worse than ever before } the distressing dreams increase to nightmare, he dreams of an extraordinary figure, which sat on his chest and affected his breathing, and is often wakened by his own groaning.   1. a. Mr. Kecek, farmer, ict. ti, took. May 8th, 11.30 a.m., 8 dr. tinct. 4^4.5 p.m., cutting around navel, lasting ^ h., recurred at 8, and at 10 p.m. wa.« very violent. At n. woke up frequently, dreamt much, had an amorous dream, with emission. — 9ih. At noon, slight -.titchcs down through 1. side of chest. At n. dreamt about quarrelling. — loth, 10 a.m., 13 dr. During d., 5 dtarrhoric strioU; unusual painfulncss of corns.— nth. At noon, lo dr. Only felt some pressure in abdomen in e. — nth, lo a.m., 30 dr. At n., an amorous dream, with emission, — 13th. 40 dr. were follnwed by anxious dreams and some colic— ^i4.th. 80 dr, no effect. — 17th. 50 dr. — 19th. 100 dr. only caused restless n., fnll of dreamt.

b. June 3rd, p.m., too dr. At 8 p.m., cutting in abdomen and one normal stool. 9,15 p.m., a diarrhoeic stool. At n. many untemembcred dreams. Next d., j dtarrhceic stools, with cutting in abdomen. At n. anxious dreams and an amorous dream, with emission. On 3rd d. a slight cutting in abdomen.

c. June 17th. 10 dr., some cutting across upper abdomen.— 1 8th, e., 15 dr.— 19th, ni., the urine passed in drops with constrictive sensation in neck of bladder,

II. PoisomifTgs. — i. After pressing juice out of roots and chewing a monci, fell, on going up a gentle acclivity, fine prickling in »kin. first in chc>t, then in ajtiltx, on •>hourders and ams and down side of back ; buni'ng smarting, a^ from nettles on head, chc^, and limbs, with itching of skin, making him rub the part j rtftigo, dazednrss, and weight in head, in warm room ; nausea, simmering in bead^ los-* of. v€ duInesA of, senses, feeling of faintness, after a short walk uphill, on coming inut warm room. Nausea relieved by a gla«s of water, but vertigo persists. Exbaiiuioo, heavine&s of limbs, better after eating. £., great weakness and prostration of all limbs i vertigo with ever)' movement, constant whirling in htad j verrigo, especially when walking about room, things sway to and fro. Walks unsteadily, whirling tn head, the limbs totter. Burning of eyes and lids. Restless, dmmfiil sleep, dicatns not remembered. Next d. dry, smarting eye%, not easily opened. Burning in eye% itching and dr)* feeling in cjes. Nose stopped up and dry in bed. m. Pressive pain in occiput and nape perviMent. Very acute shooting out at r. ear, a.m. In I. side of heaa above eyebrow pressivc shooting. Heat in throat, bum ng in faucrs j freling in throat as if something burning acridly crept up. Hawking up of viscid phlegm ; when hawking the heat in throat increases, p.m. Head confuted, heavy, giddy, hot. Prickling itching and pricking on skin in open air. Heat and burning, like ncttlc«, on chest, back, and ^houlde^s. Exhaustion, when walking so tired and heavy on chest and in limbs, that he mu^t often stand Mill, in open air. Ebullition of blood tn head and face, with penpiration. Vertigo, uncertain gait, staggering. Nose Mopped up, e. (SCHELUNC, if. A. Z.^ xxviii, tSt.)

  1. A chlorotic girl, zt. 19, who had not menHruated for % weekx, took nery day fasting a cupful ot a decoction made from one large peony-flower. Soon afiter. wards she always got a prcN-ire headache with contusion, nniw- m ears, flickering before eyes, nausea and several llijuJd stooK On tht- ^nl, 4rh,nnd 5th days voin'ting and painful diarrhoea. By e. the ^ymptom^ bad nearly gone^ but on the 5th e. the colic contmued, nerves greatly affected, shivering, slight delirium, twiit-hings and tearingit in extremities, face red and bloated, eyes red, tearful; «skin very warm, pulse hard, contracted ; tongue red, abdomen tender, and especially along transverse colon and in epigastrium, hard and contracted; external genitals swollen, painful, urine scanty and passed with burning, great thirst, dysphagia, loss of appetite, weariness, prostration* pain and dazedness in head, paroxysmal tearing pains in extremities, leaving l>ehirul a numb feeling.
