Volume I — Special Symptomatology
(Ferri Bromidum.)
This is obtained by heating gently in thirty parts water, two parts bromine, and one of iron filings. When the liquid has become greenish, it is filtered and evaporated to dryness in an iron vessel ; and the dry mass is again dissolved and evaporated to dryness.
It is a black-red deliquescent salt, very soluble and styptic.
Soluble iu water.
Officinal Preparations. — Tincture ; must be made as follows : Take of Bromide of Iron one part, add three parts of sugar and ten of distilled water. Dilutions, to the 3d x with distilled water; higher with alcohol.
Analogues. — Bromide of Potassa, Bromide of Ammonium, Caladium. {See Therapeutics, Vol. II.)
Volume II — Special Therapeutics
This medicine has been recommended very highly by several physicians for spermatorrhoea , with anaemia, great debility, and depression of spirits. It has been used in the 2X trituration. My experience is limited and not very satisfactory.
